Samodiva selected for the 2026 Golden Rose Film Festival
We’re excited to share that Samodiva, short film inspired by an old Bulgarian legend, has been selected for the 44th Golden Rose Film Festival, taking place in Varna from September 17–24, 2026.
Directed by Kalina Goranova, the film follows ethnology students Veselin and Doriana as their search for the truth behind the Samodiva legends leads them to the isolated home of Baba Ginka. As night falls, the line between folklore and reality begins to disappear.
Blending Bulgarian mythology, psychological tension and a dark fairytale atmosphere, Samodiva explores what can happen when grief, loneliness and legend become impossible to separate.
We’re proud to see the film become part of one of Bulgaria’s longest-running festivals dedicated to Bulgarian cinema.
